Juan Dolio is a quiet beach town on the south coast, between Santo Domingo and La Romana, with calm shallow water and a seafront that stays low-rise.
It works well as a stop on the way to or from Santo Domingo, and as a calmer alternative to the busier east-coast beaches. The reef sits close to shore, so the water stays flat enough for children.
