Tour overview
This is Punta Cana's most complete day out — and no other excursion comes close to covering this much ground. The Eco Tour Super Combo takes you from a lush tropical estate through a working apiary, an iguana sanctuary, a hidden Caribbean beach, and a freshwater cenote — and then puts you on a catamaran to sail the open sea, snorkel the reef, and float in the legendary Natural Pool. It's land, water, wildlife, culture, and the Caribbean all in one extraordinary day.
What happens on this tour
Electric Golf Cart · Tropical Gardens & Apiary: The day begins at the Ojos Indígenas Ecological Reserve inside the Puntacana Resort & Club estate, one of the most pristine natural areas in the eastern Dominican Republic. You board electric golf carts and roll through lush tropical gardens, breathing in fresh Caribbean air with the sounds of the rainforest all around you. Your first stop is the estate's working apiary, where your guide explains how Punta Cana's award-winning honey is produced and why bees are so critical to the Caribbean's tropical ecosystem. It's a genuinely fascinating stop — and you'll never look at a jar of honey the same way again.
Iguana Sanctuary & Tropical Fruit Orchard: Next, the golf carts take you to the Iguana Sanctuary, home to the rhinoceros iguana — a prehistoric-looking species endemic to Hispaniola that exists nowhere else on the planet. Your guide introduces you to these remarkable animals up close. From there, the tour continues through an organic fruit orchard where you can sample fresh tropical fruits picked directly from the trees: mangoes, papayas, guavas, and whatever the season is offering that day.
Playa Escondida (Hidden Beach) & Laguna Inrinri Cenote: The golf cart trail leads you through the rainforest to Playa Escondida — the Hidden Beach — a secluded stretch of Caribbean coastline that most visitors to Punta Cana never find. Take a swim, take your photos, take your time. Then, back into the forest to discover Laguna Inrinri, a natural freshwater cenote hidden within the Ojos Indígenas Ecological Reserve. These sacred lagoons were revered by the Taíno people long before Columbus arrived. The water is clear, cool, and surrounded by jungle canopy — an unforgettable contrast to the salt water you've been swimming in all week.
Argentinian BBQ Lunch: After a morning of adventure, you sit down to a proper midday meal: an Argentinian-style BBQ with grilled meats, Dominican rice, pasta salads, fresh tropical fruits, and refreshing drinks. It's the perfect reset before the afternoon chapter of the day.
Catamaran to the Natural Pool: The afternoon belongs to the sea. You board the Caribbean Sea catamaran at the Punta Cana Marina and set sail with Caribbean music playing, an open bar flowing, and the turquoise water stretching ahead of you. The catamaran stops for a guided snorkeling session above the reef, then anchors at the famous Natural Pool — the legendary shallow sandbank in the middle of the open ocean where the water barely reaches your waist and the horizon goes on forever. This is the moment most guests say they'll never forget.

Life vests are available throughout the sea portion. Q: What is the cenote, and is it safe to swim in? A: The cenote (Laguna Inrinri) is a natural freshwater lagoon within the Ojos Indígenas Ecological Reserve — a protected area that has been preserved since the 1990s. The water is clear and calm, and swimming is fully safe. Jumping and diving are not permitted in order to protect the ecosystem. Q: Do I need snorkeling or swimming experience? A: No. The reef snorkeling is guided and equipment is provided. The Natural Pool is waist-deep and life jackets are available. A: The Natural Pool is a shallow sandbank in the open Caribbean Sea where the water barely reaches your waist. It's one of the most iconic spots in the entire Dominican Republic — turquoise water, white sand beneath your feet, nothing but ocean around you. It is a standard stop on the catamaran portion of this tour. Q: Is the BBQ lunch filling enough? A: Yes — it's a full sit-down meal with grilled meats, rice, pasta salad, and fresh fruit, plus drinks. It's designed to refuel you for the afternoon at sea. Q: What is the Ojos Indígenas Ecological Reserve? A: Ojos Indígenas — 'Eyes of the Indigenous People' — is a protected ecological reserve located within the Puntacana Resort & Club estate. It was established as a conservation area in partnership with Cornell University and is one of the most significant natural heritage sites in the eastern Dominican Republic.
