Tour overview

Some golf courses are beautiful. Punta Espada is something else entirely. Ranked #1 in the Caribbean and Mexico by GolfWeek Magazine for eight consecutive years and #35 in the World by Golf Digest, this Jack Nicklaus Signature course inside the exclusive gated community of Cap Cana is widely considered one of the finest golf experiences on the planet.

Eight holes play directly along or over the Caribbean Sea, and from every point on the course, the turquoise water frames emerald fairways and perfectly manicured greens. Punta Espada has hosted the Cap Cana Championship — a PGA Champions Tour event — multiple times, and maintains tournament-level conditions year-round. Whether this is your first time playing in Punta Cana or your tenth, a round at Punta Espada is the one you'll talk about for years.

What happens on this tour

1

After hotel pickup from your Punta Cana or Bávaro resort, your private van transfers you directly to Cap Cana. On arrival, you check in at the Pro Shop, pick up your scorecard and yardage book, and head to the driving range to warm up with unlimited practice balls before your round.

2

You play 18 holes on one of the Caribbean's most celebrated courses. Your assigned caddie — mandatory, one per cart — is there to read greens, carry your bag and help you get the most out of the round. The GPS cart keeps you on track, and ice water is in the cart throughout. Eight holes take you along the edge of the Caribbean Sea. The views are as good as the golf.

3

After your 4-hour round, you have time to visit the Pro Shop and enjoy the ocean-view restaurant before your private transfer brings you back to your hotel.

FAQs

Is Punta Espada open to visitors or is it members only? Punta Espada is open to visitors, though tee time availability is limited. We recommend booking in advance, especially during high season (November through April). Do I need to bring my own clubs? No — club rental is available at the Pro Shop (additional cost). If you have your own clubs, our transfer van has space for them. What is a caddie and is it really mandatory? A caddie carries your bag, reads greens, provides yardage information and helps you play better. At Punta Espada, caddies are mandatory for all visitors. Gratuity of approximately $25 USD minimum is paid directly at the course. Is Punta Espada suitable for beginner golfers? The course is a championship layout designed to challenge all levels. Beginners are welcome, though some prior experience is recommended. If you're a first-timer, we'd suggest starting with Barceló Bávaro or Cocotal. What is the Twilight Rate? Starting at 2:00 PM, the Twilight Rate ($395) gives you a full round at a reduced price. Your 4-hour round will be completed comfortably before dark in most cases. Can non-golfers come along? Yes — a rider fee applies for non-playing guests sharing the cart. Please mention this at the time of booking.
