The Lakes Barceló Bávaro Golf Course has a claim no other course in Punta Cana can make: it was the first golf course ever built in the Bávaro area. Redesigned in 2010 by legendary architect P.B. Dye — who oversaw every detail of the project himself — it is today the most visited course in the Bávaro and Punta Cana region, and it's easy to see why.
The course winds through a lush mangrove forest with 25 inland lakes and 122 bunkers woven into the layout at every turn. At 6,655 yards from the professional tees with 5 sets of tees available, it's the perfect course for players of all levels — challenging enough to satisfy experienced golfers, accessible enough for those still building their game. The clubhouse terrace overlooking the 18th green and The Hole 19th restaurant make it a complete day out.
What happens on this tour
Your private transfer picks you up from your hotel and takes you to the course at Carretera Bávaro KM 1 — just 13 miles from Punta Cana Airport and easy to reach from any resort in the Bávaro area. On arrival, check in at the Golf Shop and collect your warm-up balls for the driving range.
You play 18 holes on a par-72 championship course designed by P.B. Dye. The mandatory GPS cart keeps you moving efficiently through the 4-hour round. Beverages — water, beer and soda — are included on the course. Lockers and bag storage are available at the clubhouse.
After the round, enjoy the terrace overlooking the 18th green and stop into The Hole 19th — the on-site restaurant and bar — before your transfer back to your hotel.
